DC transit police takedown black woman at gallery place metro station on April 3, 2021
As of today, victims of transit police violence cannot sue DC’s transit authority when they are victimized by transit police. Yaida has drafted legislation to change a law that gives absolute immunity to DC’s transit authority (WMATA) from civil liability when one of its police officers uses excessive force against a passenger. The proposed amendments provide for money damages and attorney’s fees for a victim of transit police violence who prevails after a trial.
